TWICA is a cultural platform dedicated to connecting people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Our mission is to create opportunities for Swiss and European communities to learn more about Taiwan, while also helping Taiwanese living in Switzerland gain a deeper understanding of Swiss culture and society. Through dialogue, cultural exchange, and community activities, TWICA aims to foster mutual understanding and build bridges between cultures.

In a world often shaped by division, we believe that understanding, inclusion, and respect are the values that truly connect people.

Taiwan Youth Initatives in Europe

The Taiwan Youth Initiatives in Europe (TYIE) association was founded in October 2024 and is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. The organization grew out of the Taiwan Kiddos (臺灣囡仔) initiative and was jointly established by young Taiwanese people in various European countries. Our central mission is to increase Taiwan’s international visibility through creative and innovative approaches, thereby improving Taiwan’s opportunities for greater participation in international organizations.

Due to geopolitical tensions, Taiwan frequently faces challenges on the international stage. At the same time, human rights issues in various sectors are coming under increasing pressure. We are convinced that strengthening Taiwan’s international presence and image is of paramount importance. This concerns not only Taiwan’s future itself, but also the shared global values of democracy and human rights.

To achieve this goal, we primarily focus on cultural diplomacy. We organize various formats such as academic events, cultural programs, workshops, and public advocacy campaigns. Through these activities, we aim to raise awareness of Taiwan’s challenges and concerns, promote international understanding of Taiwan, and attract international partners for cooperation and support.

The taiwanfest.ch – Taiwanese Book Fair is a non-profit event
organized by four Taiwanese women living in Switzerland who love reading and storytelling. Its focus is on promoting publications in traditional Chinese.
Where Taiwanese people gather, a lively market is a must – with various stalls offering Taiwanese specialties and culinary delights.

The first Taiwanese Book Fair took place in Rotkreuz in 2023. Around 250 guests from various regions of Switzerland spent a full day together enjoying a secondhand book market, a food street, literary presentations, children’s workshops, interactive picture book stories, and a traditional tea ceremony (Kung Fu Tea).

In 2025, the second Taiwanese Book Fair was held in the center of Zurich. Building on the existing concept, additional program items were integrated, including a Taiwanese-Swiss cultural exhibition, the exhibition “Listening · Four-Language Poetry,” the special postcard exhibition “Friends of the Mountains,” and a storytelling concert. With approximately 350 visitors, the event was a success.

Both editions received numerous positive reviews and encouraging feedback. With renewed energy, we are now preparing the third Taiwanese Book Fair.
